Setting up a Shrine

Half-Day Course
In Person @ Burnley KBC & Livestream

Saturday 25 June, 10am – 1pm
(available for 48 hours after on catch up)

Join us to learn the basics of creating a sacred space for meditation in your own home.  Learn to set up an authentic Buddhist shrine along with methods to increase the power of your personal meditation practice.

If we wish for success in our meditation practice we need to make correct preparations. The inner realisations that arise from meditation depend upon certain inner conditions that we create by engaging in the preliminary practices. Just as a farmer needs to prepare the ground before he plants his crop, so we need to prepare our minds before we can hope to harvest a crop of spiritual realisations.

In this workshop Gen Kelsang Päljin will explain how to engage in the preliminary practices of Kadampa Buddhism including setting up a qualified shrine and making water offerings. Through receiving these instructions we will develop the confidence needed to practise daily meditation.

Suitable for everyone, both beginners and those wishing to improve their meditation practice.

Refreshments are available in our World Peace Café during the course.

The cost is £15 (£5 for Monthly Members and free for FP members).

Teacher

This morning workshop will be taught by Kelsang Dra-ma, one of the teachers at Buddha Land Buddhist Centre, Keighley. She is a student on Buddha Land Centre’s Teaching Training Programme.
